The seed of The New Covenant Baptist Church (TNCBC), Akute, which is a daughter church to The New Covenant Baptist Church, Agege, was planted in 1993 by divine coincidence of a leadership burden and the socio-political circumstance of the time.
The vision grew out of a need to address the challenge posed by the 1993 election crisis and the paralyzing effect of the nationwide strike action embarked upon by workers in the petroleum sector (NUPENG/PENGANSAN) in protest against the annulment of the result of the presidential election of that year. The strike action crippled transportation and inflated commuter fares. Many times, transportation wasn’t available, which made it difficult for members living in Ajuwon/Akute axis to get to church in Agege for worship services and other programs. This gave rise to calls by brethren in the Ajuwon and Akute home fellowship centers for establishment of a preaching station closer to them.
The church was established on 18th September 1999 and is currently pastored by Rev. Oluwaseun Aina James.
To be the church that effectively disciples people and nations and fits them for Heaven (Heb. 2:10).
Plant mission, train leaders and disciple them so that they would become effective disciples of Jesus.
We are in association with the Nigeria Baptist Convention, the Lagos State Baptist Conference and the New Creation Association.
